1936 BSA Empire Star. 500cc OHV.

This was the fastest 500cc BSA had on offer for 1936. The Empire Star was launched for the Silver Jubilee in 1936 and was build to the same specification as the sporting New Blue Star: High compression piston, hotter cams, upswept exhaust pipes and foot gear change.

This particular 1936 Empire Star has been restored from the ground up mechanically and cosmetically, by a very experienced engineer/mechanic who has many vintage bikes to his credit. The bike has been restored to a very high standard and the paint and chrome is excellent throughout. The Empire Star was restored from a complete bike and is very correct with original BSA levers, Lucas headlight and rearlight, Lucas ammeter and Eureka oil gauge, original 19inch Jones rims etc.

The Empire Star has been on display in a prominent collection since restoration and has only been run casually on nearby country roads.

The engine has very good compression as you would expect and starts first or second kick once you familiarize yourself with the starting technique. All gears select accurately. A modern gel battery is fitted inside the Lucas battery box.

A copy of the original registration documents comes with the bike.
