1956 BSA DB32 Gold Star

BSA DB32 1956 for sale. 350cc OHV. Matching numbers. Shipped new to Jakarta, Indonesia in January 1956 where it remained until 1985. Last MOT’ed in the 1990s so will need recommissioning before returning to the road.

The speedo reads 7166 km. I cannot guarantee this to be accurate, but the condition of the bike (patina apart) certainly points towards a well kept, unmolested bike. All nuts, bolts, screws are the original items and in remarkably good condition. Original levers, speedo, rev counter, Jones chrome rims etc.

The engine turns over smoothly with very good compression. The magneto gives a nice spark. I have not attempted to start the Gold Star, and it would be advisable to oil everything before doing so. The gearbox selects perfectly. The brakes are good with plenty of bite.

I have never seen a similar condition DB 32 Gold Star and I probably never will again. The patina is very special, with the paint being bleached by the strong sunlight of Indonesia. The Gold Star really is quite unique in this condition.

It will need new tyres, change of oil in engine and gearbox, replenish fork oil and a new battery.

The horn currently fitted is not the correct one but I have a correct Lucas horn in similar condition which comes with the bike. The knob on the Lucas bakelite switch is missing, this can easily be sourced (or I may have one somewhere).
