1946 Velocette MSS. 500cc OHV.
This immediate post-war MSS was the subject of a quality restoration a number of years ago. It has been part of a prominent collection of cars and motorcycles and has mellowed in nicely. Just two owners in the last 50+ years. The original green logbook that accompanies the Velocette confirms matching numbers for frame and engine.
Mechanically the Velocette MSS is in very good condition having travelled a minimum since complete restoration. The speedo reads just 180 Miles and consequently, she remains in very presentable condition cosmetically. The only remarks are two little scuffs on top of the petrol tank, just ahead of the steering head. It is not noticeable as it has been painted black. Lastly, there are two fins on the left hand side of the cylinder that are partly broken off.
The original bronze dealer plate from Handley, Birmingham is fitted to the front mudguard.
Petrol tank hand lined.
Rims lined in gold with black centers as per original.
Stainless steel spokes and brass nipples fitted.
Correct Webb girder fork.
Pillion seat and footrests fitted.
Correct Miller headlight and ammeter.
BTH magneto fitted.
A tap has been fitted to the oil feed line to avoid wet sumping.
Some invoices for parts bought, among them a new Amal pre-monobloc carburettor in 2014.
Registered for the road with current UK registration documents + all EU taxes paid.
