1931 Norton International Racer. 500cc OHC.

Early 1930s Norton camshaft in race ready condition. This Norton camshaft racer was build in the 1960s and has been raced sporadically on and off since. The Norton camshaft racer consists of an early 1933 Norton International crankcase (the Norton International was first introduced in 1933 as the top of the range, with the CS1 becoming the “standard” camshaft on offer from Norton).  

The International engine fitted was dispatched from the factory on the 24th of March 1933.

The frame is a rare two stay Norton CJ frame dispatched on the 20th of October 1931. The two stay CJ frame can just fit a 500cc engine without any modifications and looks almost identical to the two stay CS1 frame from 1931.

The gearbox is a Sturmey Archer with foot gear change. The front fork and front + rear wheel is from a an AJS camshaft K10. 

This is a superb bike for vintage racing or to build as a Norton Camshaft "street special". The paint on the frame and petrol tank is original with lots of patina and a few dents here and there on the petrol tank.

Mechanically, the Norton is in great condition, the engine and gearbox having been continuously serviced and rebuild when necessary. The engine is running on Castrol R and has been flushed when standing still in between races.

The frame number is the original stamping and is very clear so it would be possible to register the bike (I could also assist with this).

Included in the sale are quite a few Norton camshaft spares (a few crankcases, camboxes, flywheels etc). together with a Norton girder fork from the 1930s.
